Review # 2 was written on 2015-06-18 00:00:00 Paul Gellner This is such a cool rustic collection. The tone is quite different from the other Best American Short Stories I've read, there's a heavy undertone of loss, not deprivation, but desolation and boy do these stories sting, even the most hopeful of them. My best in the collection are Along The Frontage Road - Michael Chabon, Seven - Edwidge Danticat, Puppy - Richard Ford, The Heiffer - Melissa Hardy, Watermelon Days - Tom McNeal, Family Furnishings - Alice Munroe & Surrounded by Sleep - Akhil Sharma
