Review # 1 was written on 2015-12-28 00:00:00 Thomas Mckenzie Pretty easy read. I had already done a few of the excersizes listed in the book before hand so I had a little experience. I think the book is lacking in both analysis and history. It mentions how to do things and the bare minumum of why to do them but I think the book would benefit from talking a little more generally about clowning as a medium. Compared to something like The UCB improv handbook, this little guide is woefully lacking but it does the basics and establishes what is needed to at least start clowning. Perhaps I'll have to read Simon's other books for a more in depth perspective on clowning but I really think there was more he could have done in this book. |
Review # 2 was written on 2013-09-01 00:00:00 Robert Matchett This is a great book. The second edition (the one with the red cover) looks like it may be a different book, but it's all in the second edition plus more. If you're hard up for cash, don't buy both buy the one with the red cover. So, read my review there. |
