Review # 1 was written on 2020-09-04 00:00:00 Ginie Wee Glazer is certainly one of the preeminent sociological thinkers of our time. It's interesting reading this 20 years after publication though: a lot of assumptions he makes about our core ideals as a multicultural society have changed. Framing the question of what makes us American, I think more contemporary thinkers would frame the question of assimilation versus diversification in more complex ways. Still good to read though. |
