Review # 1 was written on 2021-02-19 00:00:00 Joel Trevaskis I would give this book 2.5 stars out of 5 as it's the core text for our EDUC 200: Foundations of Education class. The class is written to focus on the philosophies of education; however, philosophies are only mentioned on four pages: page 168 (Chart "Philosophies of Education"), page 183 (Table "Theories of Education"), pages 383-387 (Historical Perspectives of Education), and page 407 (Table "Curriculum Organization Approaches" with corresponding philosophies/theories). If the class is suppose to focus on philosophy, then this isn't the textbook to use. However, the strengths of this book are that it is (1) easy-to-read (2) well-organized (3) provides a great overview of all aspects of education: from history to local governance to "who is who" in a school community. |
Review # 2 was written on 2019-07-05 00:00:00 Dani Black I've read this book for my educational philosophy for teachers class, I actually thought this book was interesting and helped a lot when it came to the course that I have taken. I know that it teaches, and help you learn about philosophy in the classroom. |
