There was a notion by Jung, often overlooked by Jungians, about the mutual influence amongst people at the level of unconscious. Jung called it "contamination", which should be held responsible for the massive movements or hallucinations. One example would be Germany in 1930s, which Jung described as "anticipating Wotan", if I remembered correctly. I'm a little bit skeptical about "collective unconscious" now, since it's really hard to tell if one symbol really came from the depth of an individual, or the intensive exposure towards all kinds of references towards human history that is naturally encrypted in our daily lives. Still, this very phenomenon of mutual influence is important, inasmuch as it is hard to observe. These studies by Virag are (perhaps) the first systematic attempt of looking into "contamination", and how, in a deeper level, political powers would have an impact on individual psyche. She's a brave and benevolent pioneer. More courageous work should be done along this line -- perhaps it would lead to an insight profound enough to be treated as a redemption of the bloody 20th century. Perhaps, ages later, people would reflect on the past and say, the blood of 20th century wasn't shed in vain, because we have learnt a lot from these sacrifice, just like what Burke did for French Revolution, or what Machiavelli did for Renaissance Italy.

This book gave good insight, statistics and overall information on child trauma. Some articles were more interesting than others, as with any collaborative work. I would encourage parents and those who work with children to read. Children today face new challenges and violence that impact their brain development, placing them at risk to face even more challenges at school and in mental health (a whole domino effect).
