Review # 1 was written on 2018-02-06 00:00:00 Douglas Lindbo Other reviews I've read about this book seem on the mark. The book is pretty much a scan of the original book, so has the same kind of 70s typeface, the same 70s kind of layout and photos that are probably worse to look at than the originals being now at least third generation. So, for 4.99 for 32 pages, it all seems a bit... cheap. Now, in terms of page count, I don't expect much from Shire books -- they are useful introductions to a topic, and little more. But, in this case, 32 pages, including front matter, seems a trifle light, even for Shire. If the text had been reprinted and modernized, I might have forgiven the 4.99 cover price. Still, two stars, because it remained a useful lightweight introduction to the topics covered. |
Review # 2 was written on 2017-02-27 00:00:00 Douglas Dodd This was just as feisty and funny as the author on her show, Judge Judy. It's about how to be happy, independent and resourceful; speaking up for yourself, instead of trying to please others. The book is full of interesting anecdotes explaining Judy's rise as a lawyer and judge in a male dominated world and how she survived, using her intelligence and humor. It was a story that anyone could appreciate, especially if you've ever tried to succeed. |
