Review # 1 was written on 2012-04-18 00:00:00 Mike Taylor Another unique take on Indian historiography with reference to the independence struggle. Coverage of the Gandhian Movement is , while delving on some of its often obscure but important aspects, is flimsy and insufficient. Excellent chapters on the role of Indian Industrialists and working class movement as well as untouchables. Again Communalism and Moderate phase struggle is not very well covered. All in all, not a proper history book but interesting trends and features that are not given extensive or due coverage in some other history books. Will certainly mark it as an optional read, after Bipan Chandra and Sumit Sarkar's works |
