Most of the stuff in it really is not applicable to my situation either since I am not in competition with somebody for first chair. My rating is based mostly on the writing style though and it doesn't mean that there is not some good information in the book. There were plenty of tips about how to handle those days when you don't feel like practicing, how to get the most out of your practice sessions, and dealing with performance anxiety. If you have a budding musician in your home it may well be worth a look.
