Review # 1 was written on 2012-09-01 00:00:00 Kim Huynh I like this book because it follows changing American religion, not just American christianity as most people will do. Though there is a large focus on christianity because the majority of the population is christian, judaism, buddhism, and islam are all covered either as part of factors that are changing American religion or as religions being changed or both. The book takes in to account social, political, religious, and academic factors as agents of change and expands on each thoroughly. |
Review # 2 was written on 2021-08-09 00:00:00 Samuel Curry This is an extremely well wrought introduction to Classical Greek Religion. Mikalson does a fantastic job of leading the reader into the practices and contours of Greek religion as it was primarily in the Classical period before Alexander. The reader is engaged in the realia of religious praxis from the beginning of the book and Mikalson is an excellent tourguide through various cults of ancient Greece. A highly recommended first introduction, with plenty of resources for further reading suggested throughout. |
