Review # 1 was written on 2008-07-14 00:00:00 Shelby Wilking An academic argument on how Islam is compatible with democracy. He makes convincing arguments on why Islamic countries will strive for democracy to gain legitimacy. He outlines the various reasons why they want to be legitimate etc. However, these reasons don't seem to be happening in reality. He is one of the few that seem to believe in the peaceful Islam and its future with the West. |
Review # 2 was written on 2011-10-29 00:00:00 Troy Chupp This is a decent survey of different majority Muslim nations across the world and their democratization processes. The focus is basically on the major political players and social forces. Since democratization is an ongoing process, I do feel this is outdated for modern reading. |
