This is the first collection of criticism on the whole of US Latino Literature. Previous collections centered on single communities, Chicanos, Boricuas, etc. This collection gives equal voice to various communities and lays out their literary histories, issues and aspects that gets expressed in literature. That means Chicano, Puerto Rican, Brazilian American, Argentine American, Latin American Jewish, Central American, Cuban American and Dominican American Literatures. Many characteristics and concerns overlap, identity, resistance, language, and others separate such as the revolving door of returning and arriving in Boricua lit and diasporas of several groups. This came out in 2007, I would love to see a revised and larger edition, but this remains a great collection of essays that will increase your understanding and appreciation of US Latino Literature.

Probably the best basic introduction to travel writing. It introduces themes through the ages and specific important travelers.
