I'm working now on a paper about Júlia Lopes de Almeida, the great woman writer of Brazil's fin-de-siecle, and this book makes it possible. SO MUCH INFORMATION. Of course, unfortunately, I was only able to read a few chapters -- on domestic life, French influences, literature, etc. -- but I hope to return again to the tome in the future. Meanwhile, I'd like to ask: Why is the book so hard to find? University of Texas has one copy in its library. On e-Bay, there's another copy available for purchase -- for nearly a thousand dollars! To add this to my physical library, do I have to photocopy and bind the whole thing??

Review # 2 was written on 2011-03-23 00:00:00 Steven Feldman Amazing book. We all know about government waste, but this book gives specifics on just how widespread it is. He should be on the government's payroll for overseeing government waste!
