This was an adorable “Irish Fairytale”! While not based on one specific tale, Bunting uses her history and heritage to build her own tale that has every “classic” feeling you could hope for. The artwork is done in such a way as to invoke feelings of the time-period the story is set in, as well as being modern enough for youngers’ enjoyment. The book follows three brothers who spend their life creating beautiful, joyful music for any who wish to listen. They travel their homeland from one end to another relying on the gratefulness of their audiences and love seeing new places. But, as the brothers get older, traveling gets harder. They have to face that their life is changing and decide what to do, but no matter what they protect and care for each other. They are faced with the difficult question: “Does traveling in your head and heart count just as much as traveling physically?”

A couple of traveling musicians are getting old, and are sad that they can't see amazing places anymore. They start inviting people to come hear music in their homes instead, and feel like they're traveling the world all over again. Some of the imagery in this book was really vivid and wonderful. And I love Irish stories.
