This book deeply disturbed me from start to finish and it was uncomfortable and dark I gave it three stars. However this book gets five stars for how it is written and executed I just really can't believe how badly it has freaked me out. The second person perspective and the constant 'you' made you feel as oppressed as Bryony the daughter (or possession) of your crazed father Mr Cave. The lack of chapters made it feel like a connected stream of conciousness. The indirect speech orchestrated by Terrence Cave gave no one's voice but his own. This book was as controlling as they get. The plot is about Mr Cave and how he loses his son at the right start of the novel, as the reader finds out he has also lost his wife leaving him alone with his only daughter Bryony. I loved how the title makes you unsure whether he is truly being possessed or he sees Bryony as his possesion. Overall if you want a quick, exhilarating and dark read this book is amazing.
