Review # 1 was written on 2011-05-05 00:00:00 Dave Couvelha Read for the poems of Samuel Menashe, which are hard enough to come by, though worth the effort. I discovered his work thanks to an essay by Derek Mahon in a special North American edition of Poetry Ireland Review (which can also be found in his collection "Journalism"). There's not alot to say about Menashe's poetry that you can't find expressed elsewhere, so I'll follow his example and be brief. This is one of my favourite poems of his, which happens to be dedicated to Mahon: "Winter" for Derek Mahon I am entrenched Against the snow, Visor lowered To blunt its blow I am where I go. |
Review # 2 was written on 2016-02-06 00:00:00 Laverne Larson Interesting. Repetitive because it's a collection of papers rather than a cohesive book, but still interesting. I've never studied psychiatry and do not know what are the current trends, but this felt a bit dated, even before I got to the part about neuroses brought on by the movie The Exorcist. |
