A collection of not so scary stories to read around Halloween. Most of the stories are about people being taught a lesson, in Spooks A-Hunting a spook taught the nosy lady to respect and mind her own business; in The Conjure Wives the spooks castigated the wives for not being charitable; and in Mr. Miacca the boy learned to never stray too far from home. My favorite story is The Goblins at the Bathhouse from Estonia about a girl that is chosen to be the wife of a goblin but requests a few things before the wedding in hopes to delay it until the dawn appears and whisks the goblins away.

A collection of spooky tales that spawn countries and cultures nicely retold for children. Read this with my kids and we enjoyed it. The stories were all pretty entertaining and some were funnier then others. Like the pumpkin king, or the guy who didn't believe he was dead. I think you'll recognize a majority of the stories as many are deeply rooted in folklore. The illustrations are quite nice as well.
