Review # 1 was written on 2018-10-28 00:00:00 Hazem Hmoud My experience with poetry anthologies is limited as an adult reader. Given my pleasant experience with this volume, that is likely to change. Over the last few years while browsing poetry sections I have discovered that this anthology is near ubiquitous. I feel grateful I finally approached it. I would be curious about corresponding verse from Turkey and the Balkans. I discovered a few new poets I�ll approach again and my estimations of Sassoon, Owen and Blunden were undoubtedly confirmed.

Review # 2 was written on 2021-05-27 00:00:00 J Daniels I won't review each poem itself (there are quite a few), but the arrangement and introduction, as well as the scope covered. In those areas I think this book is a solid introductory compilation: it primarily includes English-language poets, as well as a few French, German, Italian, Russian, Hebrew. The first edition included poems from only two women: Anna Akhmatova and Marina Tsvetaeva.
