This book traces English history from 597 to 1965 based on Roman/Irish missionary teachings, Saxon/Frankish tongues, and the two main German dialects of Low German as well as High German including their Gothic derivatives. This book is a superb reference, with 1,600 pages of commentary, and 206 reference pages. I read the text and references over 4 week period and was mesmerized by the writings of the 8 expert authors. This was a profound learning experience. |
