This book was interesting, but not insanely impressive, probably just because these musicians' stories are already so well known that there is little additional light shed on them in these short snippets. It was a fun read and would be enlightening to older kids who are trying to figure out who's who in rock 'n' roll. Just by virtue of the artists covered, the book also makes a subtle point about the dangers of drug use. It simply notes which artists died of overdoses, but reading that over and over is enough to impress upon one's mind the danger of drugs. My guitar-playing nine-year-old was pretty interested.
