Review # 1 was written on 2016-03-18 00:00:00 Jeremy Stembridge This is a clever and incisive book. Ockelford works with the phrase 'special needs' - unpicking it as a label and understanding its applications - and then probing the most effective music programme to match educational and developmental goals. The complexity of pedagogy in this environment is not underestimated, but Ockelford shows - through an array of case studies and examples - the best use of music in a special needs classroom, transcending the label of 'music therapy.' Well written. Well researched. Well conceived. Recommended. |
Review # 2 was written on 2014-05-31 00:00:00 Douglas Massell Apparently there is an interesting story somewhere in this book's 360 pages, but I cannot find it. Very disjointed work, but reading it does provide a compelling reason to get drunk on Napa wine. In that regard, bravo. |
