Never put together a PowerPoint before. Skimmed it over the weekend, came in on Monday and knocked a PPT together on a set of reports I run. Shortly thereafter, I was in my start of week and realized why the presentations I sit through are hard to take. They're ugly, hard to read, and overcrowded. If it's just going to be a series of pages full of bullet points, why not do it in Word? And sometimes you get a presentation that's overly formatted, "creative", and still hard to read. Some keys to Cooper's approach. Go left to right, not top to bottom. Anticipate and answer audience questions. Lead the eye around the page. Isolate key "learnings" (recommendations) and present them as a story. Don't waste space with generic titles. Sketch it out on paper first. I don't sell, exactly, and I'm rarely required to do presentations, but I'll be looking for reasons. This book gave me confidence that I can do a better job at getting the message across than what my peers usually get. I would have given it the full five starts but it's out of date and there is no online support.

meh... Some of the company background stories were interesting, but the rest was just a bunch of business fluff.
