Review # 1 was written on 2020-01-29 00:00:00 Priscila Palma The book would have been better as a part of a complete course. Using the book only is slightly problematic because of a few reasons: 1) Pronunciation 2) Word stress And if the pronunciation is not too big a problem as it's pretty straightforward in Slovene, the stress is really difficult as it's not fixed. So, it would have been a good idea to mark the stress. Also, for native speakers of slavic languages this book may seem too simple with a lot of explanations that are obvious due to similarity of languages. On the other hand, for native speakers of other languages it may appear difficult as every unit presents a new topic with relevant vocabulary and grammar without revision of the previous topics and very little repetition.

Review # 2 was written on 2017-07-09 00:00:00 Sung Lam I went through the basics religiously, then skimmed through the second half of the book; I'm overall okay with it, it gave me a good, pragmatical grasp of the language and how it works. I would've preferred a more heavily prescriptive grammar, seeing how I'm a complete newbie, but that's entirely on me.
