Review # 1 was written on 2012-02-02 00:00:00 Tim Johnston I purchased this book to get a sense of my new CEO's thinking and point of view. In that respect its useful (e.g. market consolidation will continue, suites and the related elimination of app integration will continue, ongoing investment in best of breed only prolongs the agony, etc). However, the writing (prose) was adequate but not compelling, there are frequent sidebar conversations that an editor should have excised, and the proof points are without sufficient substance. Spend your money and time elsewhere.

Review # 2 was written on 2014-11-01 00:00:00 Lynda Lansford This textbook on strategic management is heavy reading but contains a lot of useful business cases for deep study and discussion. But if you are reading it on your own, the cases are also explained. Burgelman is the director of the Stanford Executive Program and Clay Christensen is a well known business thinker. Both are very influential and have created useful frameworks to guide business thinking.
