Review # 1 was written on 2019-09-15 00:00:00 Wea Lee I would like to give this book two different ratings. Five stars for a somewhat specialized and diverse population: people who have had stem cell transplants (includes me), people interested in patent law, in biotechnology startups, in why the cost of pharmaceuticals is so high, and who are willing to read a somewhat technical book to learn about their interest. For a general audience, I suspected as I read that the author did not do enough to educate/bring people along from diverse backgrounds. If I had not already had a stem cell transplant and learned a lot about blood cancers, medical equipment and clinical trials, I doubt I could have followed it, even though I am college educated. I've read very little from people who have had stem cell transplants and loved when I got to that section. I enjoyed and recognized a lot of what he wrote. I also thought his explanation of the Bayh-Dole act (1980) and the Markman Supreme Court case were interesting. |
Review # 2 was written on 2013-01-09 00:00:00 Jeffrey Gill This book left an impression on my life that I have carried with me every since I completed this book. An eye opener of how government controls the funding for research. How that illness is big business controlled by political agendas |
