Krishnamurti the master! I am always stunned by the precision of his words, the depth of his understanding of the human mind and his clarity of perception into the human condition. It takes a while to get a grip on the language he uses because specific terms have meanings different to those often attached to them in the general course of conversation but once that is achieved he opens up a whole new way of seeing. Everything I have ever read by him has changed me in some way and this book is no exception. I struggle with the difficulties of relationships, something I have always had trouble with without understanding why; the insights are here. There is much for me to contemplate and it comes now just as the realisation that my attempts at isolation and retreat from others are not really working for me. If I am to ever be free of the chains which bind me then relationship is the working ground.I see that now though I have suspected it for sometime, the next question for me is how to translate that understanding into my every day life. At the same time however Krishnamurti just tears to shreds the nonsense we (particularly in the west) use to define relationships, particularly love. He takes issue with the idea that there is anything but self interested image involved as the active agent. This idea of "image" not only in respect to relationship but in every human experience of self, world and other intrigues me. What to do? How do we begin to see clearly enough to distinguish between the demands of the images we have created and things as they truly are. A life's work!
