Baking soda is awesome. This book proves it. I only wish it had an index of all the baking soda uses.

Baking Soda Bonanza - Peter A. Cuillo I initially thought this would be a book of recipes for baking soda uses, but it turned out it was much more than that. It started off with the history of baking soda, which I found to be very interesting and fascinating read. Yes, it did have homegrown recipes in it, many that I knew about, but many I didn't. Baking soda is a very cheap non-abrasive cleaner for so many things around the house (and for your health as well.) It also described ways that baking soda aids in natural and human-made disasters in nature. (And while doing this, explains how these disasters happened. Wow. Was not expecting that sort of details in this book.) Again, a very enjoyable read. There is a large, if not organized, collection of food recipes using baking soda at the end of the book...but that's not why I bought this book. (Well, I take that back, it is organized; the table of contents lists "Recipes," but no there is no division within that.) Following the edible recipes, came a section titled, "The Alternative Baking Soda Alternative." They should have named it exactly what this is, but I'll let the reader decide if I'm being too nit-picky or not. (Aside: I was more interested in the holistic recipes, which it does not disappoint in either.) A "Biography," and "Searchable Terms," follow at the very end of the book. The latter is not a link collection, unfortunately...which would have made a lot more sense for an ebook, especially since page numbers are a non-static thing for ereaders. Very glad I downloaded this book. I took my time reading this in small spaces, since, for the most part, that was the best way to enjoy the book. I did dog-ear many pages to come back to and placed it my reference folder on my ebook reader. I also found myself reading it in between breaks of other books, or else I would have had it read in one day. Kind of a nice break-up between reading fiction books. Four stars, for not only the recipes, and homegrown advice, but also the history! (7/6-18.)
