Review # 1 was written on 2016-07-29 00:00:00 Joseph King Despite the title and the fact this book was produced by Benjamin Moore Paints, Lesley Riva is pretty shy about color in this book. It begins with a good explanation of the color wheel and a better description of the emotions evoked by your color choices and then goes through a selection of homes and the color choices each homeowner used in the primary rooms. Most of the examples use soft pastel tones with plenty of wood, beige, and white to offset them. There are very few bold examples of color and then they are generally safe examples using single or harmonious color combinations rather than the more vibrant complementary ones. The decorating styles shown are generally tradition and classic in nature. |
Review # 2 was written on 2013-07-03 00:00:00 Vicky Schulz Jam-packed with attractive photos, this is the book for people who love color--lots and lots of color on top of lots and lots of color. I've decided that my decorating style loves color, but I need something to be neutral. I can paint bold walls, but the furnishings need to be neutral; or I can have colorful furnishings against a neutral wall. |
