I was drawn to this by the title, but I ended up not liking the story OR the illustrations (which was a little unexpected, since I loved Seven Blind Mice). The story is totally male centered, so the title makes no sense. Male spirit person creates male humans, female spirit person comes along, the two spirits leave together and give the men, as a gift, a baby girl. Who grows up to marry the chief, and the two of them populate the world. EW. No thank you, whatever tribe is responsible for that nonsense.

I liked most of the paintings, but a few felt boring and the text bored me too. I would have really liked more information about the origin of the story; just writing "A Native American Creation Tale" on the title page doesn't really cut it. Materials used: paintings on 100% rag paper Typeface used: display: Amsterdam Studi Light • body: Garamond No. 3 Bold
