Most exciting late-medieval English anti-Scot rhetoric I've read in a long time. Maxwell's 1913 English translation is at times inconsistent (especially with technical terms), incorrect (e.g., 'bones' for 'ostia', which is actually 'doorway' or 'front door'), or incomplete. Read the Latin. It's exciting and partisan. Non tamen ille David quem Christus sanctificavit, sed erat ille David qui Christum inhonoravit; quod bene probavit cum super altare cacavit; sed plus peccavit quando sacra templa cremavit. (p. 346) Not, however, that David whom Christ sanctified, But he was that David [II of Scotland] who dishonoured Christ; Which he proved well when he defecated upon the altar; But he sinned more greatly when he burned to ash sacred temples. (my trans.)

The translation now presented only extends over the reigns of Edward I. and II. and part of the reign of Edward III That'll do me. To hunt down
