Review # 1 was written on 2014-01-18 00:00:00 DYLAN KELSO #4 down in my marathon of the disney girls series, a series i randomly found while searching for "disney books." i don't know what necessarily i was looking for when i searched that, but i was definitely not expecting to find something so unique and adorable. each of the six best friends identifies as a specific disney princess. yukiko is snow white, jasmine is...obviously jasmine, ella is cinderella, ariel is..ariel, isabelle is belle and paula is pocahontas. reading these cute little stories is like eating the sweetest cupcakes ever. they're wholesome and fun, and the girls are super encouraging with each other and great role models for younger readers. they're very thoughtful and place such value over their friendship with each other ♥ in this book, ariel wants to try ballet so she quits the swim team to join yukiko and jasmine and be a part of the nutcracker ballet that their dance school is putting on. she deals with her younger sister sophie, who copies everything she does, and of course wants to sign up for dance because ariel did. the disney girls series places such importance on friendship, and being your truest self. i enjoy so much the nods to classic disney princesses. and i love how the author sneaks in little details that disney fans will notice, such as when ariel briefly mentions that her father bought her a shell necklace when she had laryngitis :) it made me think immediately of the line ursula sings in poor unfortunate souls.

Review # 2 was written on 2007-10-04 00:00:00 Michael Aunkst It was a good book and shows you how Ariel persists to keep doing ballet but when she sees her costume for the recital she changes her mind and wishes she was on the swim team.
