I wrote this review as part of my PGCE course. I found a copy of this book on my SBT2 shelves. It follows (imagined) individuals from 13000 BC to 1450 AD, representing scenes from everyday life during a variety of eras. It is primarily Eurocentric, but does also tell the story of Lady Cheng in China. There is a clear sense of historical progression, as the book moves from cave painting to the Renaissance. It fits clearly into the new KS2 history curriculum, is easily accessible and very attractive. I would love to have a copy of this book to use for history teaching and for general interest reading. The Clues to the Past page is particularly helpful for teaching.

A large picture book showing large cross sections of civilization around the world from the cavemen to the Renaissance. Focused especially on buildings with interesting tidbits throughout. Not for kids only.....
