Review # 1 was written on 2012-02-28 00:00:00 Martin Ouellet If I could give this book 3.5 stars I would, but I figured I'd round up. Three stars I'd give because the stories that Williamson provides are nothing special in and of themselves. They are fun stories to read, but nothing special. Four stars I'd give because the storyteller makes the stories what they are. I usually don't like when people use dialect spelling, but here it adds a flavor to the telling of the stories. Because part of the delight and purpose of this book is to make you imagine that you are being told the stories face-to-face, that additional flavor is not only necessary but quite effective. The atmosphere that Williamson creates is quite rich. I'd really only recommend this book to three categories of people: those who just can't get enough of fairy tales; those who are descended from the smaller islands of Great Britain; and those who want to be able to tell great stories.
