Review # 1 was written on 2021-09-17 00:00:00 Philip Held An old man lamenting about his hatred for technology I found this book on a list of books every pilot should have on their shelf. I didn't finish it. I'm three chapters in and I can already tell that the book would be twice as useful if it were half as long and a quarter more optimistic. It's like being told repeatedly that technology is the devil and lectured on how much better things were "back in my day." If you want to write a useful book about weather that is actually helpful today, focus on how to incorporate the vast wealth of knowledge you clearly have with the technology that now exists. Don't carry on forever about how things used to be as if you're writing a memoir and then label it as a helpful book for people to reference right now.

Review # 2 was written on 2018-09-03 00:00:00 Giai Tran I think this book is very useful and informative for all types of pilots (VFR and IFR), but it was just really long. It was hard to get through. I know it's not a novel where you kick back in front of the fireplace with a glass of wine and just enjoy it. But to be useful, you have to read it, and to want to read it, it has to be at least somewhat compelling or otherwise interesting. I furthermore didn't understand the logic of the organization of the chapters, which contributed to the difficulty I had in getting through this book. That said, if you can tough it out, there's a lot of useful information packed in between these two covers. I'll probably revisit this book when I get my instrument rating.
