Review # 2 was written on 2020-03-10 00:00:00 Kevin Richmond What a beautiful and instructive text? I had already finished Judson's text Abstract Algebra: Theory and Applications before I started with this book. There were still so many things I rediscovered in a new way. The primary reason I picked up this book was to redo Sylow's Theorems since that was a major roadblock for me in any other text I tried but Herstein proved to be immensely lucid and helpful in this regard. All subsequent topics such as Ring and Field Theory proved to be simple and easy to read. Not a single page where I was stuck. I can only recommend this book to everybody who has any interest in taking an abstract algebra course...EVER.
