Review # 1 was written on 2020-08-02 00:00:00 Mark Houtchens I’ve always enjoyed horses, stories about horses, and learning about their variety of breeds, handling and history. However, this book was hardly complete, in that nearly every section mentioned the great Man O’ War, returned constantly to references of Thoroughbred racing, and repeated praise of that sport’s greatest equine athletes. A few other breeds and even ponies are briefly described. The many well-drawn illustrations in this volume are enjoyable, but don’t quite do enough to convince me I should keep this book or recommend it above others with more current information. Keep in mind this edition was published in 1967, originally written in 1963. |
