Plass combines brief insights on Mark's gospel with personal stories from his own life and experiences. It wasn't terrible, but neither did anything really grab me from this book.

A gentle stroll through Mark's Gospel in 92 short readings, with commentary by the brilliant Adrian Plass. Anecdotes, confessions, and some wise and thought-provoking words from this writer who, in the sub-title, assures us that he is a 'non-theologian'. Plass's famous humour shines through now and again, mostly when he points the finger at himself and his foibles; but it's not intended to be an amusing book. It's the kind of thing to pick up and read a few pages at a time. The first time I read it, it took me about a year, usually reading three or four sections each weekend. More recently, on re-reading eight years later, I read one or two sections per day for a couple of months. Much to ponder, and a fresh look at some familiar Bible passages. Definitely recommended.
