Review # 1 was written on 2015-02-09 00:00:00 Philip Thompson Thorough and yet very accessible. One quibble: Nearly all of Kymlicka's criticisms are undertaken from his (liberal egalitarian) point of view. While some of them are definitely spot-on (e.g., his discussions of the communitarian critique of the liberal self and perfectionist strands of Marxism) and the emergence of the author's own outlook is almost inevitable (and by no means necessarily unwelcome), I still think he could have made a greater effort to canvass a broader set of perspectives.
