Review # 1 was written on 2021-02-01 00:00:00 Spiridione Mifsud A good analysis of the key themes of Marcel's work. Marcel's Gifford Lectures on "The Mystery of Being" are quite profound but also difficult to grasp. Anderson does a good job of summarizing, explicating, and situating Marcel's thought in these lectures. I'd recommend this as an introduction to Marcel's thought to be read alongside Mystery... |
Review # 2 was written on 2009-12-17 00:00:00 Tom Inglis I am a firm believer in the power of prayer. I have seen miracles happen in the lives of friends and family as well as my own: all thanks to the power of prayer and the God who answers them. I've been told yes and no and sometimes have been told "not yet". Basically, I'm no stranger to prayer. But this book increased my understanding of prayer and all of the different aspects: fasting, repentance, forgiveness, gratitude, when the answer is no, etc. Joni Hilton is one of my favorite authors because of her honesty, humor, and willingness to keep reaching higher. This book was all of that. It changed the way I view prayer; it improved it. |
