After having read several of Gooseberry Patch's cookbooks, this one really is truly useful to the point of having more than just good country food as there are several Asian recipes and a few ideas for St. Patrick's Day. From the tips provided (as part of the Gooseberry charm) to some unforgettable quotes, such as "sit loosely in the saddle of life" by Robert Louis Stevenson or a history lesson from George Washington on page 194 when he is quoted as saying, "I had rather be on my farm than be emperor of the world," the recipes can't miss with the 5 ingredient style and the quickness with which you can assemble tonight's dinner, today's snack, or tomorrow's breakfast.

Most of these recipes were reincarnations of the same thing. Lots meat cooked with a can of cola and various unexciting ingredients. Also a severe lack of spices and herbs. I would say if you have never ever cooked in a slow cooker and don't care about fancy recipes, then you would do ok with this book. But otherwise I wouldn't recommended it as a majority of them were relatively unhealthy and bland sounding. Gooseberry Patch missed the mark on this one.
