Disappointingly slight volume of the latest brain research. None of it is earth-shaking, and much of it is rather narrow in focus. I guess that's the nature of a good deal of academic research, but I expected more from neuro-scientists. For example, one finding is that training in the arts improves your ability to focus. Nice to have proven, but not exactly startling. One discussion centered on how decision-making degrades with age, and asked the question, how can we help protect our senior citizens from getting swindled? That one seemed patronizing in the extreme, since people of all ages get swindled daily.
