A classical of sociology, so not much to add to what has been said about this book since it was published back in 1950... However, three ideas not very much related to the very scientific nature of it will remain with me: 1. In the light of eternity, the question whether a girl should wear a short or a long dress is trivial. It is not trivial if you are the girl and you are going to a party (p. 20) 2. Sophistication includes knowing when not to be sophisticated (p. 22) 3. This book is incomplete, but incompleteness may be creative if one man's lack becomes another's incentive (p. 23)

Insightful at times, but old and tedious at times.
