This is a great anthology. It's one great lack is that there are no footnotes. In many situations, if you don't know Irish history, you would be somewhat at a loss. Otherwise, a great anthology, especially for the number of long poems that it holds.

Smart and accessible poems that are also graceful and seemingly effortless, though they obviously aren't--it's clear when you look closely how much craft went into their making. Her topics are wonderfully everyday--caring for children, renovating a house, remembering childhood--but also fresh and vivid and surprising.
