Review # 1 was written on 2016-10-23 00:00:00 Bob Smith Not as exciting a read on the silent movie era as,say, "Clara Bow - Runnin' Wild" by David Stein. This book does, however, recount how intelligent and assertive Mary Pickford was when it came to her film career and personal finances. Most of the big to-do (back in the 20's) about her relationship with Fairbanks was that she had been -gasp- DIVORCED! Not quite as shocking now. Very in-depth on movies and what it takes to get them made but as for intimate make-you-feel-like-you're-there details, like descriptions of their voices as in the Clara Bow bio, this book is definitely lacking. |
