Review # 1 was written on 2015-09-22 00:00:00 Marc-Andre Frechette This is del Rey's fourth annual anthology of his picks as the best stories in the science fiction field for the previous year, which was 1974. There used to be several such series, and it was always fun to compare the contents. I don't think this one was as strong as del Rey's earlier volumes, and I believe this may have been the last one he edited; Gardner Dozois took over the series. I most enjoyed the stories by Vonda N. McIntyre, Gordon R. Dickson, Robert Silverberg, and Alan Dean Foster. As I remember, my favorite was Clifford D. Simak's The Birch Clump Cylinder, one of his last stories.

Review # 2 was written on 2018-06-04 00:00:00 Robin Ayers Although almost all of the stories are from the early 1970's, with minor modifications they could have been written this year. As always, I have an affinity for Clifford Simak's writing, and he doesn't disappoint again. It's the main reason I bought the book years ago. The book starts with Busby's "If This Is Winnetka, You Must be Judy" about a life disjointed by time that would appeal to non science fiction readers too. Overall, enjoyable reads.
