Review # 1 was written on 2019-10-27 00:00:00 Ron Scerbo Like other (Anglo-American) titles from this publisher, the captions go beyond buttons & cuffs*. They provide a wealth of info on the non-regulation practicalities of the uniform on the battlefield. The re-enactors breathe life into the monochrome portraits of the Red Army, which had to juggle levels of shortage and improvisation in stark contrast to its war-winning contributions. Secondary attention goes to the Navy and NKVD troops, mostly in an infantry role. Could've used some female snipers & "Nachthexen" biplane pilots though. |
Review # 2 was written on 2020-09-14 00:00:00 Amy Jensen Nice and concise overview of soviet uniforms of WW2. I was hoping for more photos of various items such as coats, telogreika.... showing variations in terms of cut and colour but it's still valuable source. Good for scale modeler as it shows various details, such as flaps, buttons, shoulder boards, close ups of weapons. Fine addition to library of any person interested in WW2 era Red Army |
