Review # 1 was written on 2021-01-27 00:00:00 Tommy Johnston I read most of Walter Macken's books when I was in my twenties and loved all of them. It was good to read this biography written by his son. It gave me a more complete picture of the man and his life. A lot is explained through letters, for me too many letters. Still, it's wonderful for his sons and grandchildren that so many have been spared. |
Review # 2 was written on 2015-01-09 00:00:00 Glenn Arakaki A insightful and welcome read about the Godwins and and Shelleys told through the bio of William Godwin. Follows his childhood influences and growth, peak and fall as a successful writer. Of course, Mary Woollstencraft and Mary Shelley and Percy Bysshe Shelley are there, too. Lots of new info for anyone who knows much about them, all new for people who know nothing. Great way to learn about them. |
