Review # 1 was written on 2016-08-21 00:00:00 Xenia Henrie The only Potemkin text an Eisenstein fan will ever need: one to devour. Footnotes are sacrificed in favour of a mesmerizing "you are there" story which switches from the battleship, to the infuriated Navy Command, back to Constanza, for the Romanian port was just as important as Odessa to the events. The premeditated nature of the uprising & the timed hunt of the Black Sea Fleet for the ship that outgunned them all stand out as "didn't make it into the movie" elements. |
