Review # 2 was written on 2019-03-11 00:00:00 Nik Man Lately, I've been thinking a lot about the years that go into learning how to hold yourself in high regard, and about what you do when that's challenged. I've also been thinking about how to go about unlearning my distaste for romantic love, which I had internalized to be the ultimate site of self-degradation. I think this collection of poems gave me some ideas about how to address these questions. Some of my favorite poems are: "Resolution #1,003," "Poem for My Love,""Sunflower Sonnet Number One," "On Your Love," "The Morning on the Mountains," "I Must Become a Menace to My Enemies," "I train my eyes to see," and "These Poems." These poems seem to square vulnerability with dignity, which is a union that sounds revolutionary to me. |
