Review # 1 was written on 2016-02-07 00:00:00 Paul Siegel This overview of the Church's interaction with culture proceeds both chronologically and topically -- not strictly adhering to either organization. The product reads casually and enjoyably for the most part. Sections of Chapter 16 (The Church Shows Renewed Vigor) begin to drag as only brief overviews of many missionaries begin to accumulate. But, for most of the book, topics and themes transition clearly and logically. It provided good review of many items in Church history and it introduced several lesser-known events in the life of the Church. I personally appreciated several scattered references to the Keswick Movement's influence, despite the extremely brief treatment it receives initially. |
