Lots of material, very full of useful information, but poorly organized. Maps and highlighted locations were difficult to read. Extreme amounts of history and back stories. Better for someone already familiar with the regions and for follow-up travels. It's going with me in my suitcase - probably a good reference book once I get there!

Superb introduction to Languedoc-Roussillon history, art and topics of special interest (Cathar country here we come!) It's far more expansive in detail (but as tiny in print) than our beloved Michelin guide (just the facts, Ma'am), so a great complement. I much prefer guides that don't waste space on places eat or stay; it's here, yes, but only in small bits. Precious space is reserved for explanation of sights and history. 'spose I should reserve final judgment until after our trip, but I think we've found a winner. Lonely Planet and Rick Steves no more.
